How do we know where your players come from ?

Ip Connect

The first way to know where a new player comes from is the connection ip. In fact all servers put the prefix "mc." "play." etc. The idea is to have custom domains for each acquisition channel, for example "insta." "twitter." "youtuber1." "mcbeast." "topvote." etc.

With this method of custom connection ip, you have to know in great majority where your new players come from.

Note that it is obviously necessary to make the DNS entries so that each connection IP is valid to connect. To make it simple and not create a DNS entry for each new connection IP, you can define a wildcard like "*.hypixel.net" which will redirect all extensions ending with hypixel.net to your server

Acquisition Link

Sometimes users will use other links present on your advertising channels like the link of your site, or the link of your discord and therefore they will not use a custom connection ip.

So to know where the player is coming from you can create an acquisition link once on it will retrieve the user's ip and if he connects in the next few days validate the acquisition. This link will then redirect directly to the site or the discord for example without the user seeing anything.

Conslusion

With these two acquisition options you will be able to know on a large majority where your new users come from
